BCR TechED was born out of the vision and determination of a dedicated homeschool mom. While homeschooling her children, she recognized the need for accessible and high-quality tech education. Balancing her roles as a teacher and a mother, she saw firsthand the challenges of finding affordable and effective resources for her kids' education.
Driven by her passion for technology and the creativity that her non-traditional learning environments inspired, she decided to create a solution. Keicha Barnum founded BCR TechED to provide comprehensive tech courses that cater to the unique needs of a tech savvy generation. Her goal - to make advanced tech education accessible to all, regardless of background or financial situation.
Today, BCR TechED collaborates with professionals from various STEAM disciplines to offer a comprehensive range of STEAM-based educational programs and career pathway training and certifications.
We provide students with assessment tools to explore career pathways and gain insights into their work style.
Instructor support is available to students, whether in a cohort or working independently. Early assessments help mentors tailor resources to meet each student’s unique needs.
Before being assigned to apprenticeships, students receive training in soft skills, resume preparation, and mock interviews to ensure they are fully prepared.
Our training programs provide students using current software and high-demand skills, preparing them to meet the evolving needs of today's workforce.
BCR TechED is a community-focused initiative dedicated to driving innovation in education.
Keicha Barnum
Founder
I am Keicha Barnum, but to my students I am Mrs. B. Ordinarily I would be referred to as the founder of BCR TechED, however, those who know me would probably say that the title of architect would be more fitting. I have used my degree, certifications in technology and design, and experience in both the corporate world and as an entrepreneur to design a more impactful framework for STEAM education that teaches students to learn by “doing”. For more than 10 years I have partnered with talented instructors, created innovative hands-on curriculum and brought the coolest technology to students who have never used a 3D printer, coded a drone, or even dreamed of creating a 3D animation. The result - a blueprint for a uniquely geeky educational community equipped to inspire the next generation of STEAM professionals.

taMica Gaither-Banks
Microsoft Office Specialist
My name is taMica Gaither and on September 18, 2006 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). There is currently no cure for MS. While it’s been said that I could lose my ability to move and remember clearly, I’ve been defying the odds. I live in Baltimore, MD.
I love to learn and realize that an education is the one thing that cannot be taken from me. Determined to gain more knowledge I attend classes regularly. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Science from Coppin State University in December 2006. At American Career Institute I completed a Master Certificate Program in Digital Multimedia and Web Design in October 2011. I earned my Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Coppin State University in May 2019.
Studying education and technology will allow me to continue to be a productive citizen as an online instructor if Multiple Sclerosis decides to rear its ugly head. I’m passionate about everyone receiving a quality education. I want to continue to share my knowledge in economically challenged neighborhoods, schools, and community centers. Most of all I want each person I communicate with to walk away being a better version of themselves having worked with me.
