No, our course materials come with simulation software that guides you step by step through lessons. You can always download trial software when you are comfortable using it to create new things. You can also check with your local library for computers with design software installed. Adobe Creative Cloud for students is very reasonable at $20/month.

Students start with the Photoshop design course, then they have a choice to move on to Illustrator or InDesign. Each course covers the following topics for each application.

Photoshop is about photography, graphic design, and special effects. Illustrator is for hand drawn illustrations and other line art. InDesign is for making flyers, posters, brochures, magazines and product mockups.
